During her tenure as governor she focused on the environment, education, and children's issues. She substantially increased funding for education and concentrated on improving the quality of education. She appointed the first woman to the State Supreme Court and created the family court system. Gov. Kunin served as the Deputy Secretary of Education and Ambassador to Switzerland under President Bill Clinton. She is the author of two books, Living a Political Life and Pearls, Politics and Power. Gov. Kunin is currently a Marsh Scholar Professor-at-Large at the University of Vermont and lectures on history and women’s studies.
For those of you who've attended a Camp Millie, you may recognize Gov. Kunin from the introductory film about Millie Jeffrey's life. Gov. Kunin was one of the many women who were inspired by Millie Jeffrey. In return, Gov. Kunin is continuing to inspire other women to seek leadership positions.
