Justice Caucus Endorses Rebekah Warren, Senate District 18

The Justice Caucus voted to endorse Rebekah Warren in Senate District 18.

As the current State Representative for the 53rd House District, Rebekah has worked diligently to provide leadership on a number of issues critical to Michigan’s future, serving as Chair of the House Great Lakes and Environment Committee, Co-Chair of the Legislative Biotechnology Caucus (LBC) and member of the Subcommittee on Biosciences Industry Development, and Co-Chair of the Mental Health Caucus.

Rebekah has reached across the aisle to negotiate the bipartisan passage of landmark water protection legislation, worked with key stakeholders to retain and attract industry to Michigan and passed a bill that promises to keep the wetlands protection program under state authority while creating 383 permanent jobs,

Rebekah worked in the Capitol prior to her election to the State House, first as chief of staff to Democratic State Representatives Mary Schroer (D-Ann Arbor) and Hubert Price (D-Pontiac) from 1993 to 1999, and then as Executive Director of MARAL Pro-Choice Michigan, the state’s oldest and largest grassroots pro-choice organization. In this age of term limits, this expertise distinguishes me from the majority of candidates and new legislators, who are forced to rely on lobbyists and staff for the years of experience that they can no longer get through the tenure system.

Rebekah decided to run for the Senate this term to help ensure that it has not only the votes, but also the experience and the leadership necessary to bring these issues to the fore.
