Today I hit the campaign trail with my wife and two daughters – Kelly and Virginia – to announce two incredibly important endorsements of my campaign.
 

Planned Parenthood Advocates of Michigan and the Michigan National Organization of Women announced their endorsement of my campaign today.  I am the only pro-choice candidate for Governor and I’ve consistently defended and fought for women’s rights and a woman’s right to choose.
 
Also today, my wife, Teri, a public educator for more than 20 years, announced the formation of “Women for Virg” – a group of more than 250 influential women from across Michigan who’ve endorsed my candidacy.

The group includes elected officials, community leaders, business leaders, nurses, doctors, lawyers, teachers, soccer moms and women from every walk of life, and continues to grow every day. As Mayor and previously as a State Representative and Senator, my record includes working to put an end to unfair gender bias in the workplace and fighting to eliminate pay inequities for women. In endorsing my campaign, former State Representative Mary Brown said, “Virg is the champion women need at the State Capitol. He’s been an ally and a leader in the face of continued attacks by anti-choice elements who have ruled the day in the legislature. As Governor, Virg will preserve a woman’s right to choose in Michigan.”
